Funeral service for Mary Ann Nidey LeValley were held Saturday May 26, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Springfield Church of Christ. Mrs. LeValley passed away with her family by her side at the South East Colorado Hospital Long Term Care Center in Springfield on May 23, 2012 at the age of 75.
Mary Ann LeValley was born on December 12, 1936 to Wallace and Hazel (Orndorff) Nidey, the youngest of 10 children. She departed this life on May 23, 2012 at the age of 75 years and 5 months.
Mary Ann is survived by one son Tracy Lee Whittington of Yuba City CA, his fiancé Angelina Martinez also of Yuba City, one Granddaughter Briana Ford of Davis CA, and one Grandson, Jacob Lee Whittington of Gridley, CA.
She is also survived by two brothers, James (Millie) Nidey, Kenneth (Hazel) Nidey and one sister Terry Jean Wallace all of Springfield, CO and many other family and friends, including new friends at the Long Term Care Center in Springfield where she resided the last 9 months of her life.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers: Paul, Keith, Russell and Thomas, and 2 sisters: Cora Mayhan and infant sister Annabelle, and ex-husband Stan LeValley.
She attended the first few years of school at the little country school Sandy Soil, then the Springfield Schools and graduating in 1954.
She became a member of the body of Christ early in life and attended church at the Sandy Soil Church of Christ.
Mary Ann and Bob Whittington were married October 28, 1954 and lived in Illinois, New Mexico and Texas while Bob was serving in the Air Force. They later lived in Jamestown, CO where Tracy, the LIGHT of Mary Ann’s life, joined the family on March 20, 1964. Sadly Bob and Mary Ann divorced in 1969
Mary Ann went to school so she could work in Medical Records at the new hospital in Springfield, eventually becoming the director. She worked there for a total of 30 years, retiring in 2002.
She loved getting together with family and friends, gospel singing and playing dominoes and other games. When Tracy and family came from CA on Amtrak to visit every summer, she loved taking them out to eat, playing games and just being together.
Due to failing health she was forced to give up her home and enter the nursing home until Diabetes and failing kidneys took her home to be with Jesus. She will be missed so very much by so many loved ones.
