Dr. E. Stanley Kardatzke, 72, of Springfield, Colorado, joined his Savior Jesus Christ, March 14, 2012. Born in Lawrence, KS, Dr. Stan moved with his family to Wichita where he attended Wichita Public Schools and graduated from West High, 1957. He attended Anderson College in Indiana, performing in the Anderson College Quartet, and graduated in 1961. Dr. Stan graduated from Indiana University School of Medicine, 1965, and practiced Emergency Medicine in Lafayette, IN. Marriage to Reta Gerig in 1961 bore him three beautiful children. Dr. Stan completed his military service as a physician in the National Guard Reserves. With his brother, Dr. Jon, he opened the West Wichita Family Practice Clinic, and practiced there for 25 years. While in Wichita, he coached the WSU tennis team and led them to two back-to-back Missouri Valley Championships 1978-79. Dr. Stan received "Business Man of the Year Award," 1986, and was Founder Chairman of two HMO's: Health Care Plus, 1981-84 and Physicians Corporation of America, 1985-97.
In 1989, Dr. Stan married Suzonne Caillouet Kardatzke, and three more children completed their family. Through their intended vision of spiritual and holistic research/studies, he established the lead gift for the Kardatzke Wellness Center at Anderson University, IN, opened in 2002. From 1998-2012 Dr. Stan practiced Emergency Medicine in 11 states. In 2000, he received an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters from Anderson University. He was Founder/CEO of Indy Urgent Care, 2006-‘10, Medical Director in 2011 of Concentra Medical Center Southwest, Indianapolis, and Medical Director 2009-‘11 of HRC, Fishers, IN. At the time of his graduation into eternal life, Dr. Stan was Chief of Staff at the South East Colorado Hospital District and Medical Director of Hospice, Home Health, and Baca County Nursing, Springfield, CO.
Dr Stan Kardatzke was an exemplary physician, a humanitarian, the epitome of compassion and kindness, an inspiring teacher, a big game hunter, and a magnanimous, humorous, gentle man of God. He was a pilot, a composer, a health economist, and a published author of two books on healthcare reform. Dr Stan possessed a clarion tenor voice and played both piano and trumpet. He brought joy, laughter, and stimulating intellect into life’s every situation. "Well done, my good and faithful servant," saith the Lord.
Dr. Stan Kardatzke is survived by his beloved wife, Suzonne; blessed daughters and sons: Holly Galle, Heidi, Erik, Corrigan, Dominique, and Sebastian Kardatzke; cherished sister: Suzi Kardatzke; brother: Dr. Jon Kardatzke; sisters/brothers-in-law: Lorna Kardatzke, Karl, Bootsie, Misslette, and Guy Caillouet; and nine adoring grandchildren: David Peckham, Isaac and Naomi Galle, Skyler and Elle Kardatzke, Allegra D’Isep, Junichi, Julius and Scarlett Kardatzke. He is preceded in death by his parents Rev. E.E. and Vera Stanley Kardatzke.
