Ruby (Deweese) Jones was born on November 5th 1912, in Cunningham Kansas to Jess and Jessie (Miller) Deweese. Ruby's dad was a farmer and her mom was a housewife in charge of their 6 children. Ruby had 4 brothers: Orval, Shirley, Dale and Alvin (who died at birth) and one sister Opal.When Ruby was 4 years old she recalls traveling to Colorado in a covered wagon. They drove 24 head of cattle on that long trek, and ended up having to leave one of the mother cows in Two Buttes because she wasn't fairing very well and when Ruby's grandparents went back to the cow, she had already passed away. Ruby's Grandpa built a 2 bedroom house on the land he homesteaded near Campo, Colorado and when all the family showed up, they moved in and took over the farming of the land. One of Ruby's favorite past times as a kid was to walk up the road a ways to a sand bar where her siblings and her would wrestle one antoher and have a good old time.Ruby attended school at the Friendship School near Campo, CO until the 8th grade. The family then moved into Campo, CO where Ruby went to school until the middle of her senior year. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1930.On September 31, 1933 Ruby married her life long sweetheart Bryan Jones. To this union came 2 children. One son Fred and one daughter Norma. Bryan farmed and Ruby took what ever job that she could find. She was a school teacher for 5 year; she helped on the farm with everything including  milking the cows and working with the broomcorn. She finally settled into a job as a bookkeeper for the Campo Elevator ans she worked there for 17 years. In her spare time she enjoyed crochet, sewing, playing the piano, and singing while her husband played the violin. Ruby is proceeded in death by her parents; 4 brothers Orval, Shirley, Dale, and Alvin; 1 sister Opal. Ruby is survived by her son Fred (Mary) Jones of Kim, her daughter Norma (LE) Patrick of Springfield, 6 grandchildren several great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren whom she is very proud of. Ruby went to live at the Cottage in Springfield in January of 2004. She was a joy to be around and was a wonderful helper. Ruby's favorite color is red, her favorite food is white bread and milk. She will be greatly missed by all.
