Lella Jean Dobbs Moses was born October 6, 1940 in Odell, Arkansas to Leland and Mildred Rose Dobbs. She was a cowboy when she was small and always was with her sister Merry who wasn't a cowboy and wouldn't play the rough games with the boy cousins that Lee did. When they were small, their parents tried to teach Merry to say sister. It came out "hickey" and up until the girls started high school everyone called Lee "Hickey". Lee began her schooling at a little country school called Shady Grove. She attended there until the school was consolidated and then attended a school in Lincoln, Arkansas. The family moved to Springfield, Colorado in early 1960 because of Lee's mother's health. Lee and Merry found employment at the Main Cafe working for Jim Thomson. On November 2, 1960 Lee was joined in marriage to R.D. Moses. In February 1965 Brooke joined the family and was her parents' pride and joy. The family left Springfield in 1975 and moved to Eads. They then moved to Walsh, Colorado where Eric was born in 1976. This made Lee's family complete. Lee returned to Arkansas for a time and then returned to Springfield, CO in 1989. She worked a number of jobs in the community. Lee spent a year in Germany with Brooke while she was in the military. She then returned to Springfield. Lee made people feel at home and always was ready to listen and offer a shoulder to cry on. She didn't judge you for what you might have done and was always there for you. Her specialty was brown beans and biscuits. Although her health continued to deteriorate, she always had a positive outlook on life. Lee passed away on November 8, 2011 at the age of 71 yrs. She leaves behind 2 children, Brooke Mason and Eric (Cindy) Moses; 5 grandchildren, Ashley and Adam Bradley, Bryce, Grace and Eden Moses; a sister Merry Wheeler; a brother Ward Dobbs; 2 nieces Ginger and Sutton; 5 nephews; Tim Dobbs, Scott (Michelle) Wheeler, Rob Wheeler, Matthew Wheeler, and Mark Wheeler, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and many other family and friends.
