Dolan A.gordon was born June 5, 1926 in Richards, Colorado to Edward Delmar and Mary Iva (Beeler) Gordon, and peacefully left his bodily vessel on November 7, 2011 at home with Gergie by his side. Dolan lived in Richards till 1936. After a brief move to De Ritter, LA the family moved back to Colorado and Le Veta in 1940 the family moved back to live in Springfield. On November 30, 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Germany and Austria with the 524th Military Police Battalion. he was homorably dischartged on August 17, 1946 and returned home to Springfield. On November 22, 1946 Dolan married Peggy Nadean Pittser in Clayton, NM. To this union two sons; Philip Dolan and Martin Dean were born. He worked on farms, with his father seeding and bailing broomcorn, and service stations in Baca County till 1951 when the family moved to Denver. He worked there in a couple filling stations, till he found his career with the Colorado State Patrol on May 2, 1955. Dolan was assigned to Glenwood Springs, Colorado on June 2, 1955 and served there till 1956 when he was able to transfer closer to home in Limon, Colorado. He served in Limon till 1961 when the opportunity to again transfer closer to home in Lamar presented itself. He requested the transfer, but when, then chief Carrol, learned he really wanted Springfield Dolan was alowed to come home again. Dolan was proud of his career with the State Partol and served actively till an attack on August 16, 1978 ended the service. His injuries wouldn't allow him to return to work as a patrolman, and after a long recovery he retired from the patrol on November 2, 1979 after 24 and 1/2 years of service. He often said that "The patrol was very good for me", and he still loved to keep in touch with friends from the state patrol. Sadly after 46 years of marriage the family suffered the loss of a wife and a mom when Peggy passed away on December 27, 1992 during Dolan's retirement. Because of his injuries Dolan was awarded the Colorado State Patrol's 1st ever "Purple Heart" in Denver on July 18 2001. Dolan recovered enough to stay productive doing what he loved. Working in his upholstery shop, fixing and restoring cars, always re-modeling, and usually helping family or friends with anything they needed. One of his happiest days was May 10, 1987 when both he and his brother Dwane accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and were baptized at the Springfield Chruch of God. On November 4, 1993 Dolan married Georgie Stagner and lived 18 more happy years doing what he always did, providing for and loving his family.
