Vira Faye (Branham) Forrest was born May 1, 1938 in Snohomish, Washington to Sam & Esther (Salisbury) Branham, Vira was the youngest of the 7 children of Sam and Esther. The family moved back to Baca County, where they had a farm, when Vira was about 2 years old. They lived west of Campo where Sam farmed. Vira always said she had a happy childhood and a wonderful family. One big sister and three big brothers, they were her best friends and very special to her. Vira started school at "Friendship" a one room school house, Mr. Lloyd Brown was her teacher. He taught First Grade through the Eighth Grade. In 1954 Vira along with her parents, brother Charles, sister Sammy and Sammy's husband Paul and baby son Jack moved to Oregon. She graduated High School in LaGrande, Oregan in 1956, moved back to Baca County in 1958 and from there moved to Pueblo, and worked at the State Hospital until the end of 1966. Vira married James Forrest in 1962. To this union 2 children were born, Kelley Jo in 1964 and James Jr. (Butch) in 1967. Vira moved back to Baca County with her two children in 1970. That year she went to work in the Baca County Treasurers Office. She worked in the Treasurers Office until her retirement Janusry of 2003. Vira was appointed County Treasurer in 1988 and elected in 1990 and served as County Treasurer until her retirement. May 31, 2008 Vira was baptized and was added to Christ's Church and on July 16, 2011 she departed this life for a much better one at the age of 73. Vira was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelley Jo and Kelley's husband V. L. Wessler; both of her parents, Sam & Esther Branham; two brothers, Burt Levi and Eddy Ray; one sister, Alice Uvon and one sister-in-law, Sheila Jo Branham. Both Eddy Ray and Alice Uvon died as babies, before Vira was born. Vira leaves her son James (Butch) Forrest and wife, Carla and granddaughters, Berklea Jo and Bryann Faye of Springfield, CO; sister Sammy Jo(Paul) Williams of Clayton, New Mexico; brothers, Lloyd Branham of Pueblo, CO and Charles Branham of Saint Joseph, Mo; Butch's half brother, Rick (Thersa) Forrest and numerous nieces and nephews. A very spical Church Family and many good friends and heighbors. A memorial Fund has been set up in memory of Vira at the Church of Christ Building Fund, 1st Ave. & Colorado St., Springfield, CO 81073
