Edna L. Freeman Chenoweth was born September 2, 1927 on the homestead of her parents, Ray and Lillie Freeman, near Kim, Colorado. They moved to Darrouzett, Texas in the late 1930's to help her grandfather fram and ranch. She was educated in the Darrouzett schools and graduated from high school in Darrouzett. After high school, she was employed to the local post office. She married A. C. Chenoweth on March 19, 1946 and moved to Springfield, CO taking up the life of farming and ranching. They raised a family of three: Theresa, Rowena (Renie) and Brady. Edna worked various jobs from the phone company to the courthouse. She worked at the hospital in the office and in 1976 became the Holpital Administrator to the Southeast Colorado Hospital. She held this position for 10 years. One of her greatest achievements was getting the Long Term Care Unit established. She entered this unit as a patient on November 15, 2007. She departed this life on April 2, 2011, at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents; Ray and Lillie Freeman, siblings; Maxine Kilgore, Yvonne Ohlson, Carol Schick and Bud Freeman. She is survbived by her husband, A. C. Chenoweth, her children; Theresa Frazer, Rowena (Renie) Matheny, and Brady Chenoweth, two sisters; Lorene Chenoweth and Gail Walters, eight grandchildren, Darren Matheny, Clay Matheny, Lana Nocodemus, Jana Oliver, Race Chenoweth, Stacie Tarrant, Yvette Samick and Donelle Frazer and 14 Great grandchildren.
