Marylin K. (Hansen) Lasley born July 5, 1946 at Stillwater Memorial Hospital in Stillwater, OK. While still very young Marylin moved to Springfield, CO. Shortly after the move her mother, Pauline Kenzie met and married Jerry Hansen -- Jerry adopted Marylin. He and Pauline added three more children to their union: Darwin, Darla and Paula. While in high school Marylin was voted most beautiful by her class. She was also the 1964 Snowball Queen. She began working as a waitress at the Ideal Cafe owned by Poe and Marie Ballard during this time as well. She worked there after graduating from Springfield High School until she married Loyd Lasley, January 3, 1965 and moved to Stillwater, OK. With her marriage, Marylin began her first career and passion as a homemaker and a mother. She and Loyd had three children: Julie, Jeremy, and Kyle. When not busy tending her new brood she stayed busy crafting. Marylin was handy at sewing, quilting, crocheting and canning. When Julie was born premature, she was too small for store bought baby chothes, Marylin made doll size chothes for her to wear. She had been known to finish entire afghans over a weekend. One of her quilts once made a healthy profit at a fund raising event for the Springfield Longhorn baskeball team. Each new batch of her garden fresh salsa was sure to soon disappear. In January 1977 Marylin and her family moved back "home" to Springfield, CO. In 1984 Marylin began working outside the home. She enjoyed her work in the Springfield School Cafeteria, at Pins and Needles sewing shop, at the Baca County Courthouse as deputy county clerk and recorder, and finally as the receptionist at Peoples Credit Union. Throughout the years Marylin was in attendence at all of her children's school events, and more recentlly her grandchildren's events. She tirelessly followed what each child and grandchild were busy with, getting updates from each one when she became too ill to travel to their events. She was an expert at making each grandchild feel like their's was the most important relationship in her life. Marylin left this life February 2, 2011 at the Southeast Colorado Hospital with her family by her side. She in survived by her husband, Loyd, of 46 years; three siblings: Darwin (Donell) Hansen of Springfield, CO, Darla (Joe) Mundell of Lamar, CO, and Paula (Greg) McCullah of Rye, CO: three children: July (Rodney) Robins, of Springfield, CO, Jeremy Lasley of Springfield, CO and Kyle (Sharla) Lasley of Springfield, CO; and seven grandchildren Kinzie, Kelby, Kylan, and Rustin Robins; Maelin Lasley; and Tatelyn and Hayden Lasley.
