Cluster Eugene (C. E.) Crane was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma on June 9, 1925 to Alfred Louis Crane and Cynthia Ann Plowman Crane. He went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of January 20, 2011.
He traveled the Western United States working as a farm and ranch hand. He married Illa St.Antoine on January 4, 1977 in Dillon, Montana. Although they shared no children in common they bred and raised regestered apricot colored poodles. He came to Baca County as a Broomcorn Johnie and never left Southeast Colorado. Prior to entering the nursing home you could see him riding his 3-wheel bike to Loaf 'n Jug to drink coffee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Illa Crane, his sister, Magnolia Coombes, brother, Alfred C. Crane and an infant brother, Jessie Crane. He is survived by one sister, Marie Pearce of Baytown, Texas who extends a special and warm thanks to everyone who cared for him at Southeast Colorado Hospital/Long Term Care Center and to Social Worker, Connie Ring who assisted me in attending to his funeral arrangements and in asssisting Gene in many of his affairs at his request. Marie also extends this same thanks to Shannon Mason who visited him and listen to his stories and laughed with him. I know this brought him great pleasure. Connie and Shannon hold a special place in my heart as they are the angels sent from Heaven to minsiter to him and give me the peace of mind that he has been well cared for in my absence.
