James Gale McEndree was born October 27, 1926 to James Thomas and Cecelia (Ammann) McEndree in Deora, Colorado. Gale was a typical ranch kid going to a country school and getting into trouble even when his father taught him one year of school. He finished his higher education by riding horses and driving speedier cars to Pritchett High School. Gale served in the Army during WWII, from December of 1945 to February of 1947, his time as an MP was spent in Baumberg, Germany where he was stationed.
Gale returned home and on December 17, 1947 married Alona Gay Ramey. he bought Alona's parents home place and surprised his wife when he had an archway in the home rebuilt in the shape of a heart. Gale started raising cattle and while at the rance started his family; Bill, Bob, Burl, Nyla and Gale were born. Here they were taught the meaning of hot fences, getting back on the horse, fresh vestables and what big families are all about when they raised a cousin Jim Garvin. In 1958 Gale moved his familly to Springfield, where he worked a short stint with the County Assessor's office before beginning a 25 year career with Colorado Farm Bureau. It was during these years that two more daughters were added to the family, Larae, and Mala. Here the education went on with little league, swimming, 4H trips to the world's fair, Disneyworld, the oceans and more. Then always back to the ranch to help take care of cattle and enjoy life. After Farm Bureau Gale went back to his love of family, ranching and horses, where quite often he would tell horse stories, but somehow they always came back to his favorite horse Sunday. Like how Sunday would load in the back of the pickup without stock racks or how you could rope and cut calves with him or just giving all the kids rides, Gale always said no money could ever buy that horse. Gale also told stories of his classmates at Pritchett and still supported their FFA program and enjoyed their Rocky Mountain Oysters. Gale was also a supporter of the Springfield School where all seven of his children attended and he served on the School Board. Gale was also the instingator of bringing Bobby Anderson of the Denver Broncos to the Athletic Banquet for the Springfield Schools. He was involved in little league baseball, Sheriff's Posse, roping club, Jaycees, VFW and bowling leagues. He also ejnoyed watching baseball, fishing, and riding around in the '63 spring Falcon Convertible, but more than all he loved his family.
Gale was preceded in death by his wife Alona, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and two grandchildren. he passed from this life on December 27, 2010 at is home at the age of 84 years and 2 months.
