Holli Jo Nelson Profile Photo
Holli Jo Nelson was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife, mother, and wonderful friend to many. Holli was born in Lamar, Colorado on October 12, 1970 to Carolyn Johnson and Gib Nelson. Holli left us on January 10, 2011 in Springfield, Colorado. Holli spent her early school years in Wiley, Colorado living with her mom and step-dad, Richard Eichler and half-sister, Beverly Seemann on the family farm. Holli was involved in volleyball, track, cheerleading, and FFA; in fact Holli showed and won awards for her champion pig at the National Weatern Stock Show in Denver, Colorado. Holli loved animals and she spent a lot of cherished time with her beloved horse, Payday. Holli also spent a lot of time with her grandparents, Mac Tarzan and Zelma Johnson on their family farm near Campo, Colorado. Holli's hero was her granddad, Mac who taught her how to drive on the back roads of Baca County. Holli learned how to search for arrow heads and a pitch playing expert-which later lead to her being a poker pro! Holli spent much of her teenage years living in Springfield with her step-mother, Sharon Nelson and half-brother, Casy Nelson. When Holli became Sharon's step-daughter that is when she became her best friend. Casey claims that Holli was the coolist sister and she listened to the best rock-in-roll music. In Holli's childhood she enjoyed traveling with her consins, Torrin and Ty Brauch and they started her passion for Las Vegas and they were kicked out of more than one casino for under-age gambling. Holli spent time as a Longhorn at Springfield High School. Holli went to the prom and danced all night to 80's music with David Johnson. Holli won many awards in shot put and discus. Holli enjoyed her time at Lamar Commuminty College in the cosmetology department. Family and friends preferred Holli's haircuts for years to come. Holli was an avid lover of animals land and water alike. Holli took great pride in her fish tanks and to be one of her pets would have been a privilege. On July 22, 1997 Holli and her first love, Dana Irvin (deceased) had a daughter, Cheyenne Danae who was the light of her life. Holli had found Cheyenne in the past few years and she looked forward to the day she would turn eighteen so she could tell her again how much she still loved her. On May 29th, 2007 Holli and her soul mate, Doug Lapar were joined by their son, Zac Tarzan who was the other light of Holli's life. Holli was a dedicated and loving mother and her world relvolved around her children. Holli loved going to watch Doug at the demolition derbies and she was Doug's beggist fan in the stands and in life. Holli loved and adored Doug in both the good and the bad times. One of Holli's passions was music especially the 80's. She performed as lead singer to the band Elayshun. If she wasn't singing she was beating everyone at poker. Holli was loved by so many in Baca County with many friends both young and old. Once you were Holli's friend it was forever. Holli provided counsel to too many people to count. She was always there when you needed her. Holli is servived by her grandfather, Mac Tarzan Johnson; mother, Carolyn Johnson; father, Gib Nelson, step-mother, Sharon Nelson; half-sister, Beberly Seeman; half-brother, Casey Nelson; daughter Cheyenne Irvin; son, Zac Tarzan; and husband, Doug Lapar. Holli will be missed by those that truly knew her. Love you Holli Dolli!
